How does PrismPoster align to EU AI Act Article 50?
Article 50 sets two separate transparency duties, and they have different addressees. PrismPoster answers the first one for you and cannot answer the second one for you. An always-on machine-readable mark is embedded in every export, which maps to the Article 50(2) marking duty; video rendered from the timeline editor additionally carries a C2PA signature. The Article 50(4) human-facing disclosure duty binds the deployer — the person publishing the content — so when you post a realistic depiction of a real person, making that disclosure is your step. PrismLabs OÜ is an Estonian company, so EU transparency rules sit at the centre of how exports are built.
What does Article 50 require?
Two parts matter here. Article 50(2) requires that AI-generated output be marked in a machine-readable format so systems can detect it; it binds the provider and applies to all synthetic output, not just depictions of people. Article 50(4) requires that deepfakes — realistic AI-generated or AI-manipulated content depicting real people — be disclosed in a way people can understand; it binds the deployer, meaning whoever publishes the content. The duties are independent: satisfying one does not satisfy the other.
How does PrismPoster meet 50(2)?
With the always-on provenance metadata embedded in every file. The mark is written into IPTC, XMP, and EXIF for images, MP4 container metadata for video, and ID3 for MP3 audio. It is never gated by plan tier, so it is present on all AI output regardless of what you pay, and no plan removes it.
What about 50(4)?
That duty is yours, and PrismPoster helps without discharging it for you. Content made or edited with a real person's likeness — the depictions 50(4) is written about — exports with a visible “AI-generated” or “AI-enhanced” badge burned into the frame on every plan. Other content carries the embedded mark only, so nothing in that rendered frame tells a viewer it is synthetic. When you publish a realistic depiction of a real person, disclose it: say so in the caption and use the platform's AI-content flag where one exists. The artistic, creative, or satirical context can reduce how prominent that disclosure needs to be, but it does not remove the duty.
If you would rather not carry that responsibility manually, the practical answer is to treat disclosure as part of your publishing checklist rather than something the export step handles.
Does PrismPoster use C2PA Content Credentials?
Partly. Video rendered through the timeline editor's server-side export carries a C2PA signature, a cryptographic credential that binds provenance to the file so it can be verified and tamper-checked. That signing does not cover still images or raw generated clips, which carry the embedded metadata mark only.
The trade-off between the two is worth knowing: embedded metadata uses standard, widely readable fields but can be stripped by some platforms on upload, whereas a cryptographic signature is designed to be verifiable. Neither survives a screenshot.
Does this make my content fully compliant for my use case?
No, and it is worth being plain about that. PrismPoster supplies the provenance signals on export; how you use, disclose, and distribute your content is your responsibility, and Article 50 obligations fall on deployers and users depending on context. For your own legal position, review the terms, the acceptable use policy, and seek your own advice where needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which part of Article 50 does PrismPoster cover?
Article 50(2), the machine-readable marking duty, via the embedded provenance mark on every export. Article 50(4), the human-facing deepfake disclosure duty, binds you as the publisher and is not covered by the export.
Is there a visible AI label on likeness content?
No. Exports carry no burned-in label on any plan, including work made with a real person's likeness. Disclosing that at publish time is your step.
Is the Article 50 alignment available on the Free plan?
Yes. The machine-readable mark is on every export and every plan, and the C2PA signature on rendered video exports is likewise not tier-gated.
